Fields of Application of HEPA Filter Cassettes

  • In HVC (heating, ventilation and air-conditioning) systems
  • In self-cleaning HEPA filter units to recover high dust loads.

Application of HEPA Filter Cassettes in HVC Systems

The first HEPA filter cassettes were designed in the USA in the 1940’s and used for the first time in the Manhattan
Project in order to prevent the spread of airborne radioactive contaminants.
HEPA filters =( High Efficiency Particulate Air filters )
are aerosol filters that are used to filter at least 99.995 % of all airborne particles
0.1 – 0.3 μm in diameter, in particular dusts that are hazardous to health and toxic.
MPPS

= (Most Penetrating Particle Size )
According to the known filter effects, particles ranging from 0.1 to 0.3 μm particle size are the most difficult to filter and are thus considered the most penetrating particle size (MPPS).

In addition, smaller and larger airborne particles are filtered much more effectively
than the MPPS.

DEHS = ( Di-2-EthylHexyl-Sebacat)
HEPA filter cassettes are classified with regard to their efficiency compared with the
particle sizes 0.1 – 0.3 μm using test aerosols and their filter performance is verified
in a DEHS test.
Application today HEPA filter cassettes are used, in particular, in clean room technology and in ventilation
systems in the pharmaceutical industry. Today, a HEPA filter rating is equivalent to the
more recent NIOSH (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) N100 rating
for respirator filters. NIOSH is part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC) within the US Department of Health and Human Services.

Application of C.T. Asymmetric HEPA Filter Cassettes in Self-Cleaning HEPA Filter Units

“European preciseness – worldwide recognition”

Containment Technology asymmetric HEPA filter cassettes correspond to those described above, with regard to their design and efficiency.

Furthermore, the C.T. HEPA filter cassettes have the following additional features:

  • they can be exposed to high dust loads up to 150 g/m³ before becoming clogged
  • due to their asymmetric pleating, they have a high dust storage capacity and can be cleaned easily by compressed air
  • due to their solid construction they can withstand high pressure differences without causing leakages or even ruptures of the filter media,
  • endure numerous dedusting cycles by compressed air without being damaged,

and thus achieve long filter service lives even in the case of high dust loads (up to 150 g/m³h max.).
